Meet Emily

Hi! I’m Emily

After 22 years in the NHS I decided to change from fixing humans to helping humans with their dogs.

I have never not owned a dog and loved them all for their individual quirks and right amount of crazy!  – After taking my own dog to various trainers who used more traditional methods I decided that way of working wasn't a good fit for me or my dogs and retrained them using modern reward based training methods- What a difference in our relationship! Happy dog! So I started to study with The Institute of Modern Dog Trainers.

I've always been dog crazy and have a special interest in high drive / working breeds after owning her own bunch of crazies (Setters, Retrievers, Labs, Spaniels and collies).   My friendly, down to earth, honest, non-judgemental and patient approach helps build a strong bond between the dog and the owner, making the training process enjoyable and effective.

Training Philosophy

At Haigh Hounds, we believe in positive reinforcement and modern reward-based training methods. We remain non judgemental and make your problems our problems.

We provide you, the human part of the team, with the skills and knowledge to release the potential in your relationship with your dog. Our methods involve helping both ends of the lead.

Training alone is not enough - we look at the underlying cause of the behaviours we are seeing. We look at the whole dog to provide long term solutions. Dogs were not bred to live a human lifestyle but we can help them coexist happily.

Dogs do not misbehave to annoy you, They are not trying to dominate you or be the pack leader......there is always a reason behind their behaviour. Let us help you look at what that is.
