Fun gun dog

Looking for a fun way to tire out your dog without running a marathon yourself? Welcome to our 4 week Fun Gundog and Scentwork classes, where all dogs are welcome – no previous experience needed (for you or the dog)!

Fun Gundog Training – No Spaniel? No Problem!

Forget the idea that only spaniels and labradors can enjoy Gundog training – we welcome all breeds! From chihuahuas with big dreams to bulldogs that think retrieving is beneath them, our Fun Gundog sessions are perfect for tackling everyday pet dog issues like poor recall or selective hearing (“Did you say ‘come back’ or ‘squirrel?’”). This training isn’t about turning your dog into the next hunting champion, but about helping them channel that energy into something productive – like fetching your shoes instead of eating them.

Scentwork – Give Your Dog a Job (So You Can Sit Down)

Ever wonder what your dog’s nose is really doing when they’re sniffing every lamppost? Scentwork gives them the chance to put that talent to good use – without dragging you around the neighbourhood! It’s like hide and seek, but instead of kids, your dog finds treats (or, if we’re feeling adventurous, something you’ve actually lost). It’s a great way to keep your dog mentally busy, tire them out, and look like a professional trainer while secretly just letting them do all the work.

Wigan and Chorley Locations – Let’s Do This!

Our classes are held outside in Wigan and Chorley, so no long drives to the countryside required. Just bring yourself, your dog, and a sense of humour. The dogs love it, and you’ll walk away with a tired, happy pet (and possibly a new party trick).

Sound like fun? Get in touch to join a class – no prior knowledge or canine whispering skills necessary!

Games, exercises and retrieves

Did you know gun dog exercises can help with everyday pet dog behaviour? These activities, like retrieving and impulse control, tap into your dog’s natural instincts and provide great mental and physical stimulation. By including them in your routine, you can reduce common issues like pulling on the lead, recall, excessive barking, or over-excitement, leading to a calmer, happier dog.

Scentwork

As a qualified WSDA Scentwork instructor I include a session to teach your dog to identify and indicate on a novel scent and progress onto searches

Scentwork is a fantastic way to engage your dog’s natural instincts while providing them with mental and physical stimulation. By using their nose to search for hidden scents, dogs tap into their primal skills, helping to reduce boredom and prevent destructive behaviours at home.

It’s also excellent for building confidence, particularly for anxious or shy dogs, as they focus on the task at hand. Plus, scentwork can improve focus and impulse control, making your dog more responsive to commands.
