Cheeky Training Hack and a bit of science as to why food can help in training - Does your dog stop taking treats outside?
There are many reasons this can happen but if it’s linked to Hyperarousal or feeling stressed here’s one little trick from my toolbox to keep your dog in their “Thinking state”
Just like us humans, Its all chemical and it’s a survival technique. We wouldn’t last long running away from a tiger if we got distracted by a chocolate bar!
When dogs Sniff Lick or Chew it releases calming chemicals in the brain.
Using a sqirty philli cheese or pate paste (other brands are available ) to encourage licking can help keep your dogs arousal levels low enough to manage taking food……maybe in the form of a cheeky scatter feed to get the old sniffer going!
